We store passwords only in a scrambled (hashed) form that can't be turned back into the password, and sign-in codes and links only in a form that can't be used on their own.
When you sign in we set a cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days of inactivity on the website. It is used only for your account and is not shared with anyone. We also keep a short record of account activity, such as sign-ins and changes to your alerts, including the IP address used, to protect your account and to help you when you contact us. You can sign out of every device at once from your account page.
If you add a phone number from your account, we text it a one-time code to confirm it is yours.
If you use our Android app and allow notifications, we store a notification token for your phone so we can send your alerts to it. The notifications are delivered through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service. The token is removed when you sign out of the app.
Our pages include measurement tools from third parties that help us understand how the site is used and how well our advertising performs. These are Google Analytics and Google Ads, the Meta (Facebook) pixel, and the OpenAI measurement pixel. They record activity such as the pages you view and whether a visit resulted in a signup, and they may set cookies or similar identifiers in your browser.
