Hi, I’m Alex, one of the co-founders of Global Entry Spotter, the tool that has helped thousands get a Global Entry interview appointment. I recently went through the Global Entry renewal process, and I found a simple step that helped me get approved faster. Since a lot of travelers ask about delays, I wanted to share my exact timeline.
April 12, 2025
My Global Entry was set to expire on May 3, so I submitted my renewal application on April 12. Even after the expiration date, my TSA PreCheck still worked normally. I never had a chance to test Global Entry at customs during that gap.
August 17, 2025
By mid-August, my renewal still wasn’t approved. I used this CBP contact form to check my status. Here’s exactly what I selected in the dropdown menus:
Topic: Trusted Traveler Programs (Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI and FAST)
Applicable Issue: Application status check
TCC Program: TTP: Global Entry
In the description box, I explained that I had been waiting for months and asked if they needed anything else from me.
August 18
Just one day later, 24 hours after submitting the form, my renewal was approved!
If your Global Entry renewal is stuck in “pending review” for months, filling out that CBP form might help trigger movement on your application. It’s a small step that worked for me and could save you weeks of uncertainty.
Global Entry renewals can take months. Many people wait 6–12 months without updates.
TSA PreCheck usually continues to work even if your Global Entry technically expires.
You can contact CBP directly through their help portal to check status, and in some cases, this can speed up approval.
If you’re still waiting on an in-person Global Entry interview after your application is conditionally approved, that’s where Global Entry Spotter helps. Our service monitors all enrollment centers and instantly alerts you when an appointment opens up. Most users secure an interview in days instead of months.
